A Mediterranean Dream: The 12 Best Hotels in Amalfi Coast for a Breathtaking Italian Escape

Table of Contents

Rome has magnificent buildings, and Venice has its canals, but the Amalfi Coast is one of the most picturesque regions in Italy. The coastal chain of cliff-top towns has colorful houses and stunning views of the Bay of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno. Cities along the Amalfi Coast are popular for a relaxing vacation where you can sip wine on a flower-filled terrace or lay out by a pool overlooking the water. After visiting the best hotels in the region, each hotel was compared to see how they compare. So if you’re looking for a luxurious stay, you’ve come to the right place. Look at the best luxury hotels on the Amalfi Coast and start planning your getaway!

Our selection of the best hotels on the Amalfi Coast (in Italian, Costiera Amalfitana) is located in the province of Salerno, in southwestern Italy, specifically in the Campania region, near the Tyrrhenian Sea that surrounds the Gulf of Salerno. UNESCO has declared it a World Heritage Site.

A short drive from the Naples airport, you will arrive at the beautiful and touristic town of Positano (https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Positano), a true paradise to enjoy your honeymoon. This former medieval fishing village is tucked away in a seaside enclave filled with charming pastel-painted houses that hug the cliffs. How times have changed: Many of these are now 5-star all-inclusive hotels with quick access to the beach and surrounding high-end restaurants, some of them MICHELIN-starred.

We have selected what we think are the best hotels on the Amalfi Coast so that you can enjoy your vacation in Italy.

Hotel Santa Caterina, Amalfi – A beautiful resort on the Amalfi Coast

Set among gardens, terraces, and a citrus orchard, this villa, built in 1904 on the Amalfi Coast, houses the Hotel Santa Caterina. Its thatched-roof open-air restaurant, Al Mare, overlooks the hotel’s infinity pool. Pleasant balcony rooms with family heirlooms and local antiques offer stunning sea views. Staff dressed in polo shirts or tuxedos will greet you by name as they guide you to the hotel’s saltwater pool and private beach. Take the glass-enclosed elevator that will transport you through the rock to get there as you marvel at the engineering and charm of the location—a true gem among all the hotels on the Amalfi Coast.

“This gem has the perfect blend of Art Nouveau and comfort!”

Monastero Santa Rosa, Conca Dei Marini – A genuinely 5-star experience on the Amalfi Coast

The Monastero Santa Rosa hotel on the Amalfi Coast is housed within a beautiful, former 17th-century Dominican convent, perched high on a rocky cliff, away from the tourists and overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. The location is one of the best of all the best hotels on the Amalfi coast. The hotel’s architecture is as impressive as you’d expect, with vaulted corridors and ceilings adorned with elegant 17th-century furnishings and more contemporary decor. The heated infinity pool, 660 feet above the sea, is the final icing on this magnificent accommodation.

“An Amalfitan treasure for adults only.”
